From the rental companies we surveyed, we found two where you can rent a car if you are 18 years old. However, the number of models you can choose from is limited.
You are 19 to 23 years old
At these ages, you can rent a car from all the rental companies based on our research. Therefore, the number of models you can choose from is much more extensive than for 18-year-olds. If you are 21 or older, you can also rent a Nissan Qashqai or a BMW 1 series, for example. However, you will still pay a surcharge that can amount to about €80 per rental period.
You are 23 to 65 years old
From the age of 23, you can choose from all the models the rental companies have on offer. However, some companies still charge you a surcharge until you are 25 years old.
You are over 65
From 65 years old and older, rental companies can have different rules and conditions, but not all of them do. There are some that do not set a maximum age limit, while others have a limit of 65 or 80 years old or charge a surcharge for some vehicle models. Before entering into a rental agreement, check whether there is an age restriction for your chosen model.
